  2. Chris,

I've never blogged before. I think I sent two this evening but am not sure that they went through. One I sent in for the Applied Anthropology (janiceg). And the other to your blog. I actually signed it Jan Gagnier. Did you get them? If not, I'll try again.

Thank you. I'll learn this! :)

  3. Chris, I don't think mine went through so I'll repeat what I entered originally.

This evening I gardened and admit to looking far more closely at all the little rocks and stuff that I pulled up from around various plants. I hoped for an artifact or two since taking this class! ha! As a child my Mom told me of finding quite a few American Indian arrowheads on the island in Wisconsin where she grew up, Neenah. I thought it was so cool but now I wonder how many of them were lost and should have been handed over to a museum.

Reading your ongoing blog is such a foreign experience for me to read about and appreciate the more I read. I have a number of questions to ask you. As you work in the exacations and find more cavities, do you expect to find them or they "found" as you excavate the soil? You mentioned finding 3 different maize plant casts. Do you know yet if they continue to grow in that area of Ceren? Do you eat any of the same varieties during your visit? Is the flavor similar to the flavors of corn you've had in the Seattle area?

I gotta tell you how cool I imagine it must be to walk on a 1,400 year old walkway that you have been uncovering. Are the ceramic tiles brightly colored?

I'm sorry to ask so many questions of you.

Thank you for your sacrificing and hard work!
    Jan Gagnier

  4. Chris,
I keep meaning to ask you if it's cool way down in the pits?
